What To Expect From Therapy with me
My Practice
I am trained as an Integrative therapist, this means I do not subscribe to one specific method of therapy, instead, I use perspectives from several modalities to consider what is going on for you holistically rather than just focusing on one area.
However, the core of my practice is “Humanistic” and person-centred. This approach places priority on building a supportive and non-judgmental relationship that explores the impacts of our early relationships, the personal learning that has come from those relationships and the cognitive constructs we create as a result, ultimately shedding light on how we relate to ourselves and others.
I also strive to work with people from different backgrounds and cultural experiences, I welcome clients from all walks of life and whilst I am committed to educating and enriching myself I am also open to learning and being taught by your lived experience so that I can better understand and support you.
What is Counselling and how can it help me?
Counselling is a talking therapy that can give you an opportunity to gain an understanding of your troubles and give you an insight into the nature of how these difficulties are playing out in your life. It is a non-directive, non-medical way of exploring difficulties you may have experienced in life, in your relationships or with yourself. The strength of Counselling lies in the two of us working together in a supportive, non-judgmental way to build up trust, focusing on your intrinsic strengths and worth to help build resilience and ways of overcoming your difficulties. In our work together we may explore:
Your “process”, how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact with one another
Your personal values, these may be punitive or given to you earlier in life.
Helpful, compassionate and healthy ways to interact with issues you would like to change.
The door to therapy is open to anyone and doesn’t have any minimum requirements. Maybe you have been through some difficult life events, lost someone important to you, had difficulty in relationships or maybe you're having trouble putting what you are going through into words and you just want to learn more about yourself. Whatever your experience, it is welcome here.
What Can I Help With?
Whilst it is useful to provide a list of areas that I can support you with, I feel it is important to note first of all that my practice is aimed at supporting you as a unique and worthy individual, during our journey in Counselling you may find that your feelings shift and you may work through different feelings and positions, each person's journey is unique and individual.

Our First Session
If my practice resonates with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to tell me a bit about yourself, what you're going through and what you are hoping to gain from Counselling.
I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
I will normally invite you for a brief telephone conversation so that we can ask each other a few questions, we can get a feel for one another and then you can decide if you want to take the next step and have an initial assessment.
The assessment session would take place either face-to-face or remotely and allow me to understand what you are going through, for us to agree on a way to work together and a chance to see if you think working with me would be helpful for you.
